Investors in People

Investors in People (IiP) is a national quality standard which sets best practice for improving an organisation’s performance through its people to achieve its business objectives. OBAC achieved IiP recognition in August 2001.  Since then we have continued to maintain the national standard.  Recognition in April 2004 and June 2007. OBAC is proud to be one of the few black minority ethnic and refugee voluntary sector organisations that have have achieved Investors in People recognition.

Positive About Disabled People

OBAC has held the award for the 'Two Ticks' accreditation for the past 10 years. The symbol was awarded by the then Employment Service now the Jobcentre Plus to employers who have agreed to take action to meet five commitments regarding the employment of disabled people. These are:

  • to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities
  • to have in place a framework to ensure adequate engagement with and the participation of  disabled employees to discuss further learning and development.
  • To make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
  • to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
  • To regularly review the five commitments for improvement by identifying any gaps and plan ways of how to improve on our performance.  All relevant parties will be fully informed about the progress.
