Accreditation/Awarding bodies

OBAC is accredited by the City and Guilds.  Oxford, Cambridge and RSA and Open College Network.  Qualifications are offered to ensure that students at all levels, including key skills, have access to externally validated examinations.

Academic Year

OBAC training operates on a semester system consisting of three thirteen-week semesters per year: spring, summer and autumn consequently starting in January, May and September.

Award of Certificates

Certificates are awarded when the following graduation requirements have been met:
• Satisfactory completion of all course work. 
• Completion of an approved course work/portfolio
• Written approval of the supervising Tutor/Lecturer
• Full payment of all tuition fees to the college

  • The relevant awarding body will award all certificates

How to apply for Admission?

Send completed application form to the OBAC Registration Department
You can download an application form from the website or send us an email or contact us and we will send a form to you either by email or by post. The student may fill the application form and either send it directly to OBAC or may submit it to the authorised local representative along with the following:

  • A copy of all qualifications attained.
  • Letters from past and present employers confirming work experience
  • Three passport size photographs

4. Detailed resume.
5.  A remittance of the first year fee. If the application is not accepted this payment will be refunded.

  •  Non-refundable registration fee of £100 (for International Students)

If you are an International Student, in order to apply for OBAC programmes the stated documents must be submitted to either the local in-country representative or directly to OBAC, 1st Floor Gloucester House 8 Camberwell New Road London SE5 0TA

Applying for a place at OBAC Training and Consultancy as International Student:
Return your application form (which can be downloaded from this site) before July 30th against September, 30th November against January and 28th February against April to the College with photocopies of any qualifications.  Your application will be passed on to a course Coordinator who will decide whether to offer you a place.  This decision will be based on your qualifications, so we cannot process any applications without proof of qualifications. You must be able to show competency in English language:

English language requirements
In order to study at the College, you will need to have achieved a certain level of English Language, including comprehension, reading, writing and speaking skills. If your first language is not English, you will need to provide evidence of qualifications in English as follows:

  • GCSE English, WAEC English (or equivalent)
  • Cambridge First Certificate Grade A - C
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate Grade A - C
  • Cambridge Proficiency Grade A - C
  • IELTS (British Council system) a Score of 5.5

Receive acceptance documentation
Upon receipt of the application form the admissions committee will review the applicant’s status and the successful candidate will be sent the conditional acceptance letter. 

Pay tuition fees

Once we have received your acceptance documentation you should make arrangements for your tuition fees to be sent in full to OBAC. If you are paying your fees from overseas you should ask your bank to issue a Banker's Draft made payable to OBAC, which you should send to us by courier or registered post.  If you are unable to remit full tuition fees, OBAC will accept an agreed substantial amount with condition that student clears the balance in full at the time of registration.

Re: Policies and Procedures

Student registration incorporates OBAC Training and Consultancy admissions policy and procedure. It includes checking to ensure that students complete the enrolment form, present copies of relevant certificates, identification, payments of fees and issuance of ID cards.   The student then attends induction and begins course. 

Attendance
The view of OBAC Training and Consultancy is that regular attendance is necessary for academic success.  Every student is expected to be present and on time for classes.  They are expected and required to attend classes regularly and participate actively in the instructional program throughout the academic year.   Overseas students are required to attend for, at least, 15 hours per week. Irregular attendance may lead to suspension and repeated occurrence may lead to exclusion. Such cases will be brought to the attention of Immigration authorities and awarding bodies

Authorised Absence

There will be occasions when students are legitimately absent from classes due to unavoidable reasons.   The categories of "valid" excused absences are Illness - a doctor's note may be required for extended illness, medical appointments or treatment, any other unforeseen emergency (must be authorised by OBAC Training and Consultancy

Non-arrivals

OBAC Training and Consultancy monitor students' movement from their country of departure to the UK. Non-arrivals are monitored and students failing to arrive due to unavoidable circumstances will be given alternative resumption dates; usually the beginning of the next term course

Non-attendance
Students failing to attend course and classes will be excluded.   Such cases will be brought to the attention of Immigration authorities and awarding bodies.

Refund of Fees
A complete refund of the tuition fee (less administrative fee of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds (£250.00) will be granted under certain conditions (e.g. (a) the student is denied entry visa to the UK.  Proof in the form of the rejection letter from UK Immigration authorities is required. (b) The student states, in writing to the Director of the Program his/her intent not to participate in the programme.

The deadline for receiving this is at least 4 weeks before the commencement of the programme.   Student must submit proof to support the application, giving reasons; such as a death or serious illness of the student, or a member of the student's immediate family that necessitates the student returning home.

No refund of the tuition fee will be given if the student withdraws after the deadline listed in (b) has passed or the student is removed from the program because of gross misconduct.

Overseas Students

Applicants from some countries are required to obtain a Visa from their local British Embassy or High Commission prior to travelling to Britain. This is likely to involve an interview with an Entry Clearance Officer who will want to see:
-Your Passport
-Your academic qualifications
-Letter of unconditional enrolment issued by the college (showing tuition fees paid)
 -Evidence that you have access to the necessary living expenses

Overseas students other than European Union

Other than the procedure outlined afore, once your application has been accepted you will be required to pay your fees in full before a letter for the purpose of VISA could be issued to you. If you are unable to remit full tuition fees, OBAC will accept a deposit of £1500 (Sterling One Thousand Five Hundred Pounds only), subjected that you pay the balance in full on commencing your desired courses. On receipt of fees/deposit a letter of enrolment shall be issued which will facilitate you to secure a VISA.

Student Visa’s
Student Visa (if required).

Depending on your country of origin you may or may not require a visa for entry to Britain. Please check with British Embassy/High Commission in the country of residence before making any travel arrangements. If you do require a student visa you shall have to produce the following documents to the entry clearance officer at the Embassy/High Commission in your country:
- A valid passport
 - Certificate of enrolment to a full time course, consisting of at least 15 hours of study per week.

OBAC is registered with the Office of Immigration Service Commissioners.  We can provide students access to immediate assistance with all visa issues.
